Tyreek Hill, a former wide receiver for the Miami Dolphins, has shared an update on his recovery from a significant knee injury sustained during the 2025 season. Hill recently posted workout videos across social media platforms, including YouTube, X, and Instagram, marking his return to public updates after a three-week absence. These videos offer a look into his rehabilitation process, which follows a dislocated knee and multiple torn ligaments.
In his recent videos, Hill expressed optimism about his recovery timeline, stating it is “looking real good right now.” Despite this positive outlook, he also made some candid admissions regarding the extent of his injury and rehabilitation challenges. Hill revealed that he has undergone two surgeries over the past 10 months, with one of these being an LCL surgery in February.
Recovery and Physical Challenges
Hill sustained his knee injury on September 29 during a game against the New York Jets, an incident that damaged multiple ligaments in his left knee, including his ACL. He described the impact of the injury in his video, noting, “My left leg is the one that I injured. I have no power in my left leg at all so I’m trying to regain all the power in my left leg, but it’s one day at a time.” This statement highlights the ongoing physical hurdles he faces in his recovery.
The veteran wide receiver, who is 32, also mentioned that doctors had previously indicated he might not be able to walk again. He has, however, surpassed those initial expectations. His agent, Drew Rosenhaus, had provided an optimistic assessment shortly after the injury, stating there was “no nerve damage, no blood flow issues, no broken bones, the cartilage is fine.” Rosenhaus also mentioned that the initial goal was for Hill to be ready for the next season and that only one surgical procedure was anticipated at the time.
Despite the initial optimism from his agent, Hill’s recent revelations confirm multiple surgeries. He detailed some of his rehabilitation exercises, including “wall push-offs,” and admitted to performing tempo runs, which he noted he is “not supposed to be doing.” He explained his rationale: “I like to challenge myself a little bit.” Hill is focusing on activating various muscle groups, including quads, glutes, hamstrings, and calves, along with stability and mobility work to restore his knee’s condition.
Career Status and Free Agency
Hill’s injury cut his 2025 season short. He was released by the Dolphins in February as the organization initiated a rebuilding phase. This offseason, the team also released quarterback Tagovailoa and dismissed former head coach Mike McDaniel as part of its new direction. Hill remains a free agent as training camps are set to begin, and it appears he may sit out the 2026 season.
Before his injury, Hill was recognized for his speed and athleticism, making him a significant offensive threat. He led the league in receiving yards and receiving touchdowns in 2023. Between 2021 and 2024, he missed only one game. Hill’s career began in 2016 as a fifth-round pick for the Kansas City Chiefs, where he spent six seasons, earning three first-team All-Pro selections and contributing to a Super Bowl title. He was traded to the Dolphins after the 2021 season for draft picks, including first and second-round selections, and continued to perform at a high level, earning Pro Bowl selections from 2016 through 2023.

The uncertainty surrounding Hill’s health has likely contributed to his unsigned status, with teams assessing his recovery. While he aims to regain his “explosion and burst” for a return to the field, a specific timeline for his comeback has not been provided by Hill.
