An altercation reportedly occurred between Miami Heat star Bam Adebayo and his former teammate, Tyler Herro, on Friday at a practice court in Las Vegas. Reports indicate that Adebayo struck Herro during the incident. No injuries have been reported.
The confrontation is said to have begun when Adebayo approached Herro regarding comments the guard made on social media. These comments critiqued Adebayo after their seven-year tenure together in Miami concluded.
Social Media Comments Spark Altercation
The dispute appears to stem from remarks Herro allegedly made on social media. Earlier this month, a screenshot of a conversation attributed to Herro questioned Adebayo’s contract and defensive consistency. Herro reportedly stated, “It’s a mf making 60 million but they worried about me and what I do. You should get paid 60 million to be a top tier defender on some nights? I’m just wondering.” He also added, “If I’m healthy I’m the one who needs help, who did Cleveland prioritize taking away in the playoffs?”
Additionally, after the trade that sent him to Milwaukee, Herro posted a graphic on his Instagram Story. This graphic featured players with the worst field goal percentage from midrange, including Giannis Antetokounmpo, who was traded to Miami, and Adebayo. Antetokounmpo was listed first at 26.8 percent, while Adebayo was tenth at 35.9 percent.
The Heat issued a statement saying they are aware of the situation but are not commenting. The Bucks also declined to comment on the matter. Herro was later seen courtside at a Heat–Bucks summer league game on Friday afternoon, where he reportedly spoke with Milwaukee personnel.
Resentment Among Former Teammates
Reports suggest a “level of resentment” has existed among multiple former Miami Heat players concerning Adebayo’s standing within the organization. According to one report, players felt Adebayo was the “chosen one” in Miami, noting that he was never involved in trade rumors and signed a substantial extension with the team.
Adebayo has spent all nine seasons of his career with the Heat since being selected with the No. 14 overall pick in the 2017 NBA draft. He has earned six All-Defensive selections and three All-Star nods during his time in Miami, contributing to the team’s two NBA Finals appearances.

During the 2025-26 season, Adebayo averaged 20.1 points, 10.0 rebounds, 3.2 assists, and 1.2 steals per game, shooting 44.2 percent from the field. He also expanded his shooting range, making 127 three-pointers after hitting 102 triples across his first eight seasons combined.
Blockbuster Trade and Future Matchups
The Heat recently acquired Giannis Antetokounmpo and Bobby Portis in a blockbuster trade with the Milwaukee Bucks on June 22. As part of this deal, Miami sent Herro, Kel’el Ware, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Kasparas Jakučionis, three first-round picks, one pick swap, and one second-round pick to Milwaukee.
Prior to this trade, Adebayo was reportedly the only player the Heat were unwilling to include in trade discussions. Herro, who averaged 19.5 points per game during his time in Miami, is now expected to be the primary scoring option for Milwaukee.
The upcoming season will likely see increased attention on Adebayo and Herro when the Heat and Bucks face each other.
