Royal Family attends Wimbledon Men’s Final
Prince William and his wife Kate attended the Wimbledon men’s final on Sunday, where they were joined by their two eldest children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte. The family watched the match from the Royal Box, which also hosted a number of notable figures including actors Dustin Hoffman, Nicole Kidman, and Ben Stiller. Other celebrities present included Jennifer Lopez, Tom Hiddleston, and Andrew Garfield.
Kate, who serves as the patron of the All England Club, presented the trophy to the men’s champion, Jannik Sinner, following his victory against Alexander Zverev. She had also presented the trophy to the women’s winner, Linda Noskova, on Saturday, though without her family present. This marks Kate’s third and final appearance at Wimbledon this year, having also attended the women’s finals and made a surprise appearance on day four of the tournament.

The Princess of Wales wore a bespoke olive version of Emilia Wickstead’s Tidus dress for the occasion, accessorized with Van Cleef & Arpels Magic Alhambra two-motif earrings and a Halcyon Days’ aquamarine Maya Gold Torque bracelet. She completed her look with tortoiseshell Ralph Lauren sunglasses and Ralph Lauren’s Celia pumps in RL Gold calfskin. Princess Charlotte wore a blue dress with ruffled sleeves and white ballet flats, while Prince George was dressed in a navy suit and striped tie.
Post-match interaction with the champion
Following Sinner’s win over Zverev, the royal family engaged in an extended conversation with the champion in a room within the tournament’s main stadium. Kate congratulated Sinner on his achievement, remarking, “Fantastic achievement. It’s really inspiring to the children to see tennis at that level.”
Sinner, holding the golden trophy, then inquired about the young royals’ tennis habits. Prince George responded, “Not every day, but weekends.” This interaction echoed a similar conversation the four royals had with Sinner after last year’s final, where he defeated Carlos Alcaraz.
Reflecting on the royal family’s presence, Sinner commented, “You can really see that they love the sport. This is exactly how we feel as players on court when we see them watching tennis. Staying there for four hours under the sun with the heat, it’s really nice. … Having the whole Royal Box there, as well, the whole people staying for a match like this for four-ish hours, it’s amazing. That’s also the reason why we love to play tennis.”
Distinguished guests and royal patronage
The Royal Box also hosted several other dignitaries, including German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and Italy’s sports minister Andrea Abodi. Former Wimbledon champions Stefan Edberg, Lleyton Hewitt, Richard Krajicek, Jan Kodes, and Stan Smith were also among the attendees.
Kate’s role as patron of the All England Club began in 2016, and she has since become a regular presence at the tournament. Since 2019, she has taken on the ceremonial duty of presenting trophies to both the men’s champion and runner-up, a role previously held by the Duke of Kent. She has attended every year, with the exception of 2020 when Wimbledon was canceled due to the pandemic.
