Goldie Hawn: Open to Acting Again at 80

Posted on 30.04.2026

Goldie Hawn, at 80, is open to acting again but only if she finds a script that excites her. The Oscar-winning actress hasn’t appeared in a major project since her role in The Christmas Chronicles 2 in 2020.

Hawn’s Hollywood career spans nearly 60 years. She first captivated audiences on Rowan & Martin’s Laugh-In back in the ’60s, and over the decades, she’s delivered memorable performances in films like Cactus Flower, for which she won an Academy Award. Yet now, as she reflects on her journey, she emphasizes the importance of content.

“It’s about the content,” Hawn stated recently. She’s looking for something that truly resonates with her—something that makes her say, “Oh my God, I want this so bad.” And it seems she’s not alone; her daughter Kate Hudson has even considered writing a project for them to collaborate on.

While Goldie has been focusing on family—she has four adult children and eight grandchildren—and her mental health program MindUP, the idea of stepping back into the spotlight intrigues her. She’s spent much of her time with partner Kurt Russell at their home in Colorado, enjoying life away from the hustle of Hollywood.

But it’s not just about returning to acting; Hawn’s interests have expanded recently. She’s set to release her first children’s book on May 5, titled The After-School Kindness Crew: Pooch on the Loose #1, with plans for more titles to follow. In total, she aims to publish five children’s books.

As she considers future roles, Goldie remains clear about what she wants. “Doing the same thing over and over again for your whole life is not as interesting to me,” she shared. With this mindset, it’s likely any new project would need to be something truly special.

For now, fans and industry insiders alike are left wondering what might come next for this beloved actress. Goldie Hawn’s legacy is secure—but perhaps there’s still room for one more exciting chapter.
