Flyers vs Penguins: Penguins Rally for Game 6 Showdown

Posted on 28.04.2026

The Penguins have rallied to win two straight games against the Flyers, forcing a decisive Game 6 after being down 3-0 in the series. In a nail-biter on April 27, Pittsburgh edged Philadelphia 3-2, with Kris Letang scoring the winning goal. Sidney Crosby assisted on that pivotal play and has racked up four points in just two games.

The atmosphere in Pittsburgh was electric. Fans packed the arena, their cheers echoing as Letang found the back of the net. Elmer Söderblom and Connor Dewar also contributed goals for the Penguins, while Travis Sanheim and Alex Bump managed to score for the Flyers. Yet, it wasn’t enough.

Artūrs Šilovs stood tall in net, stopping 18 of 20 shots. His performance has been crucial—especially given that he’s faced relentless pressure from Philadelphia’s offense. The Flyers have struggled mightily in this series; they haven’t scored a single goal in the first period throughout. Their power play went 0 for 2 in Game 5 and is just 2 for 15 overall.

Still, Rick Tocchet remains optimistic about his team’s chances. “There’s no way that group’s going to go away,” he said after the game. The Flyers will need to dig deep as they head back home for Game 6 at Xfinity Mobile Arena on April 29.

For now, Pittsburgh has momentum on their side. Crosby expressed confidence in his team: “I thought the last couple games we’ve found our stride a bit, so we should feel good about that.” With the series now at 3-2, every moment counts.

But what of Crosby’s health? He briefly left Game 5 due to a knee injury but returned to finish strong. His presence on the ice is invaluable as they chase a Stanley Cup dream.

As both teams prepare for this critical matchup, fans are left buzzing with anticipation—who will seize control? The stakes couldn’t be higher as history looms; only four teams have ever come back from a 3-0 deficit to win a series. The Penguins are aiming to join that elite company.
