An internal memo from ESPN chairman Jimmy Pitaro indicated that the majority of the job impacts are a result of integrating the NFL Network into ESPN operations. Impact on On-Air Talent
Among the individuals affected by the layoffs are approximately 10 on-air talents from various sports. Notable names include former NFL player and analyst Ryan Clark, who was reportedly let go. Clark had been a prominent figure in ESPN‘s NFL coverage.
Another significant departure is Cam Newton, who had been a contributor to the program “First Take.” Newton had recently been elevated to serve as the primary Monday co-host alongside Stephen A. Smith during the football season, a period when the show typically sees its highest ratings.
