Brandon Ingram’s Injury Puts Raptors’ Playoff Hopes in Jeopardy

Posted on 30.04.2026

Brandon Ingram’s heel injury could significantly impact the Toronto Raptors’ chances as they face elimination in the NBA playoffs. The Raptors lost to the Cleveland Cavaliers 125-120, and without Ingram, their playoff hopes hang by a thread.

Ingram was ruled out for the second half of Game 5 due to right heel inflammation. He played just 11 minutes and 22 seconds in the first half, scoring only 1 point on 0-of-2 shooting. This was a stark contrast to his regular season average of 21.5 points per game; during the playoffs, he’s averaging just 14.8 points.

His struggle with this heel injury has been ongoing since after the All-Star break, and it seems to have flared up at a critical moment. “Brandon, as you guys know, has been dealing with his heel,” said Raptors coach Darko Rajakovic. The team brought Ingram in to help alleviate pressure on Scottie Barnes, but now they must navigate these playoffs without him.

Key stats from Game 5:

  • Ingram scored just 1 point
  • Made no field goals (0-of-2)
  • Contributed with 2 assists, 1 rebound, and 1 block

Rajakovic noted that Ingram reaggravated his injury during the game—an unfortunate twist for a player who had been trying to find his rhythm. Scottie Barnes expressed concern as well: “Obviously, we need him out on the floor. His playmaking ability and his defense and everything he brings.” Without him, the Raptors face a daunting task against a determined Cavaliers team.

As for what lies ahead, uncertainty looms over Ingram’s condition and whether he’ll be available for Game 6. The Raptors need every available player if they hope to turn this series around.
