“Two-thirds of Americans say the country is headed in the wrong direction,” an ABC News/Washington Post/Ipsos poll reported, highlighting a troubling trend for the Trump administration. His approval rating has dipped to 37%, the lowest point of his presidency, while disapproval ratings soar.
As discontent grows, 62% of Americans express dissatisfaction with Trump’s performance. This sentiment is particularly pronounced when it comes to critical issues like the economy and handling the Iran conflict. In fact, 76% of Americans disapprove of how he’s managing the cost of living.
The backdrop here is stark. The conflict with Iran escalated recently, as U.S. and Israeli forces launched strikes aimed at curbing Iran’s nuclear ambitions. Many citizens feel that Trump’s foreign policy decisions—particularly regarding military spending—are misguided. A significant 65% oppose increasing military expenditures from $1 trillion to $1.5 trillion.
Among Republicans, support remains relatively strong; 85% still approve of Trump. Yet, only 45% express strong approval—a drop from 53% just last month. Even among independents, his numbers are troubling—only 25% approve.
This dissatisfaction seems to be shaping the political landscape as we approach midterm elections. Nearly half of Americans (46%) believe Trump is “too conservative.” It raises questions about how this might affect Republican candidates who align closely with him.
The Trump administration faces mounting challenges ahead. With disapproval ratings reaching record highs—65%% disapprove of his economic policies and 66%% criticize his handling of Iran—his path forward appears increasingly precarious.
